L'Icom IC-9700 segue il fattore di forma dell'HF / 6 meter IC-7300 di enorme successo. L'IC-9700 copre bande da 2 metri, 440 e 1,2 GHz. Avrà molte delle caratteristiche dell'IC-7300, tra cui l'architettura SDR a campionamento diretto (campionamento IF in down conversion per banda 1,2 GHz), touch screen TFT a colori da 4,3 pollici e display dello spettro in tempo reale con cascata. Inoltre, la radio supporta D-Star, doppio orologio, ripetizione cross-band e ha main e sub-receive.
L'uscita di potenza è: 100 watt su 2 metri, 75 watt su 440 MHz e 10 watt a 1,2 GHz.

The Icom IC-9700 follows the form-factor of the hugely successful HF/6 meter IC-7300. The IC-9700 covers 2 meters, 440 and 1.2 GHz bands. It will have many of the features of the IC-7300 including direct-sampling SDR architecture (down conversion IF sampling for 1.2 GHz band), 4.3 inch color TFT touch screen and real-time spectrum display with waterfall. Additionally the radio supports D-Star, dual watch, cross-band repeat and has main and sub-receive.
Power output is: 100 watts on 2 meters, 75 watts on 440 MHz and 10 watts at 1.2 GHz.
